Program Activities
| Activity | Description |
| Archery | Peaceable Kingdom has an archery range with 6 lanes. Our equipment is accessible to most abilities. The participants will have the opportunity to shoot recurve target bows or blow guns. |
| Campfire | Depending on the weather, a campfire is possible. At the campfire cooking on a grill or over the fire, eating s'mores and spending time together are possible. |
| Climbing Tower & Zip Line | The climbing tower is a 3-sided tower 40' tall. One side has climbing holds for a bouldering and climbing experience, the 2nd side is an open face with free-hanging ladders and ropes for additional climbing challenges and the 3rd side has a 300' zip line running out of it. |
| Computer Lab | The computer lab consists of 10 wireless laptops that allow many different opportunities for a group. At this point, Peaceable Kingdom does not have any adaptive equipment or internet for the computers. Some activities possible are journaling (either in the building or outside on the trails or by the river) and video editing (groups can make short movies and play them for each other at the theatre) |
| Art Program | At Peaceable Kingdom, we are trying new, creative ideas in our Art Program. We want to give the possibility to participate in art that one might not have the opportunity elsewhere. On staff, we have an artist that brings new opportunities to our visitors. We do projects with several different mediums like glass, clay, paper, etc. Some projects we do are glass fusing, lamp working (shaping glass with a torch), clay beads, ceramics, easel painting, interactive painting and much more. |
| Drama | A stage is located at the front of the theatre. The stage can accommodate short skits, talent shows and many other activities. |
| Fishing | The pond is located off the retreat grounds about 2 miles down the road. Transportation to the pond is the responsibility of the group. PKRC can provide the equipment including poles, bait, etc. |
| Group Games | Peaceable Kingdom has several games groups can participate in during their stay. The games can be geared to the group's needs and abilities. Some games include:
|
| Horseback Riding | This activity is held for the children of our mission groups. We do not allow parents or adults to ride. Horses are a powerful tool in reaching children and we believe all children should have the option to ride. We can make many accommodations to ensure every child the ability to ride as long as it is safe to their well being. Any special accommodations should be mentioned well in advanced during the planning. |
| Icebreakers | When a group arrives at Peaceable Kingdom, we like to lead some icebreaker games to get the group talking to each other and the staff, to get to know each other, and to start the weekend with fun and excitement. During the planning stage, we will talk about the goals for the group over the weekend and plan the games accordingly. |
| Miniature Golf | The miniature golf is a nine-hole golf course which is fully wheelchair accessible. |
| Nature trails | We have over 2½ miles of trails throughout the Retreat. Taking group walks in the morning or evening is refreshing and a chance for the group to spend some additional time together. Some of the trails are not wheelchair assessable. |
| Playground | We have a swing set and jungle gym geared for the younger children of the group. |
| Ropes/Challenge Course | At the course, the group will be challenged mentally and physically. A trained staff member will facilitate the activity with the group and lead them through several different activities that will get the group working on teamwork while having fun playing. A Peaceable Kingdom trained ropes course instructor must be on duty any time anyone is using the ropes course. |
| Sport Court | The sport court is ideal for the group's athletic games. It has two basketball goals, a net that can set up for volleyball or tennis and all of the equipment needed. The court is not covered. |
| Swimming Pool | The swimming pool is open April 1 - Oct 31 (depending on the weather). It is approximately 50 feet long and 30 feet wide with a kid's pool attached. The pool starts at 3 feet and goes to 12 feet. The kid's pool is about 1 ½ feet. A certified lifeguard must be on duty at all times. |
| Theatre Time | In the theatre, we have the ability to play anything at the video store (DVD, VHS, game systems) and can also hook a computer to the projector for presentations. Peaceable Kingdom has a large selection of movies available for viewing. If there is a movie you wish to watch, let us know to see if it available. If you wish to bring you own, please bring a DVD because of a better sound and picture quality. |
| Video Games | At the theatre, we have a small video game arcade consisting of 5 games and in the lobby we have an air hockey and pool table. All games are free of charge. |
